
Kara Walker at the Domino Sugar Factory

To mark the demolition of Brooklyn’s legendary Domino Sugar factory, Kara Walker built a giant sphinx-like sculpture from sugar, surrounded by little childlike melting candied figures. The impact came from not only the sheer size of the sculpture, but how it filled the dark hollowed abandoned space with radiating glow.
