Miami Art Fairs 2011 : OHWOW

OHWOW presented It Ain’t Fair: Materialism in a pop up tent in the Wynwood Design district. OHWOW is collective that hosts events, pop up fairs, runs a magazine and different events representing a creative community of a variety of artists working in a range of media from photos, sculpture, mixed media, drawing and performance. Wayne White paints irony over found paintings. Tom Scicluna installation Paul Gabrielli at Invisible Exports Stunning installation by Ellen Harvey, these are in fact mirrors reflecting a mountain landscape. Agathe Snow, who featured an intensive space with James Fuentes at the main Art Basel fair, as well as these ring sculptures here at NADA. Misa Inaoka tiny sculptures of birds.

Banks Violette at Team Gallery

Banks Violette show Not Yet Titled at Team Gallery showing drawings and one sculpture (cast motorcycle resin and salt). Violette calls his drawings “film cells from the world’s slowest movie.” Here is Banks Violette with supporters of all ages. ArtJetSet caught up with Agathe Snow who is just back from preparing a show in Paris Jeu de Paume and on her way to Toronto for a show at The Powerplant.

New Museum, Snow, Blum, and the Rain Forest

New Museum hosts a interesting show discussing inhabitation and our living environment, our constructed surroundings. Mathias Poledna’s Crystal Palace is a stunning 35mm film showing a lush rainforest landscape with gentle rain and winds blowing through the foliage. The intense soundtrack, suggests the physiological experience of abstract and structural film.
